Waratah and Lemon Flowered Gum

• Description: Unable to resist these Waratah at the Adelaide Famers Market I then picked this Lemon flowered Gum (E. woodwardii) from a street tree to compliment them. The two looked great together and I just had to paint them. Then I planted my own Lemon-flowered gum and it is in winter flower now.

• Description: In winter, golden explosions of wattle come to delight and warm us. I find all the different forms of wattle endlessly fascinating. This is from the wonderful Toondulya a threatened SA species. Waiting for mine to flower now.

Silver Mallee

• Description: Silver grey leaved mallee trees make beautiful ornamentals. The lemon yellow gum blossoms are prolific and draw a mass of busy bees. You can see this in bloom in Summer in the mallee display garden at the Goodman Gate of the Adelaide Botanic Garden. Blond wood box frame.

Yarra Bend

• Description: I have documented my walks along the Yarra in the morning through a series of paintings. Now that I have moved to Adelaide they stand as memories to that time. I started with a red canvas and paint the complimentary opposites before the true colour to give depth and interest to the work. It is a beautiful place to walk.

Through the Trees

Pin Cushion Hakea

• Description: This beautiful pin cushion flower is big and bold and from the most beautiful tree.  I found this one in Hyde St Footscray.  There should be more street trees like this! The one I've planted is as yet tiny - a wait that will be worth it.

Fat Leaved Wattle

• Description: It is a crazy looking kooki plant in bloom. Found on the southern tip of Eyre Peninsula. I found this one in the car park of the SA State Flora nursery in Belair National Park. Acacia pinguifolia (Fat-leaf Wattle) Endangered - highlighting the fact that 1 in 4 native South Australian plants are at risk of extinction.
